Privacy policy
Last updated 30 September 2026. Family Run App ("we") runs the FamilyRun web and mobile apps. For the short version, read our privacy principles.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our sign-in provider), and the name you choose to show in your household.
- Family information you enter: children's first names, activities, events, locations, packing lists, forms, contacts, driving assignments and notes. We don't ask for birthdates, school IDs, health information or photos of children.
- Things you import: screenshots, PDFs and emails you upload or forward, which we keep so each imported event can link back to its source.
- Device and notifications: if you turn on notifications, a push token for your device and your notification preferences.
- Technical data: IP address and request logs, used for security and to keep the service running.
We don't track your location, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers in the apps.
Children's information
FamilyRun is for parents and guardians. Children don't create accounts. A parent enters a child's first name and schedule, and can delete it at any time. An optional "kid view" link shows one child's upcoming week to anyone who has the link; you can switch it off at any time.
How we use it
- To show your household's plan, detect conflicts and remind you about what's coming up.
- To read the screenshots, PDFs and emails you import and suggest events. You review and confirm every suggestion before it's saved.
- To send the notifications, daily briefings and weekly digests you've chosen.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use family data for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Google Cloud and Vercel: hosting for our API and website.
- An AI provider (Google Gemini or OpenAI): receives the content of an import when you ask FamilyRun to read it, to extract event details. We send only that content.
- Expo (and Apple and Google push services): deliver push notifications.
- An email provider: sends invitations and digests, and receives forwarded emails.
Each acts on our instructions to provide its service. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Sharing inside your household
Everyone you invite to a household can see its plan. Parents can change it; caregivers can view it. Household owners manage who's in and can remove members.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is open. In the app, open the Family tab to export your data, delete a household (including uploaded files), or delete your account. Deletion is permanent. Backups are overwritten on our normal schedule.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, and to object to some processing. The in-app export and deletion tools cover most requests. For anything else, contact info@familyrun.app.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each household's data is isolated by database access rules, and requests run as the signed-in person. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us if you see a problem.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and notify you in the app or by email.
